Glasses for Latte Macchiato: The special breakfast
Latte Macchiato is an elaborate breakfast drink served in a specially designed and created glass. Born in Italy and widely consumed, many people still confuse it with caffé latte, another coffee and milk drink with which latte macchiato shares some secrets.
However, the two drinks differ both in the amount of coffee they contain and in the preparation technique behind them. The latte macchiato, with its soft and scenic beige tones, with its creamy milk, is such a special drink that a special glass is absolutely necessary for it.
The reason for this lies in its spectacularity: the latte macchiato is easy to make and also very beautiful to look at, with its layers of colour it will amaze everyone: It makes you look like a professional bartender.
The difference between latte macchiato and caffe latte
As already mentioned, latte macchiato and caffe latte differ not only in the way they are served. You need a special glass (mostly a latte glass) for the latte macchiato and a more or less large cup for a classic caffe latte. But the two drinks also differ in their preparation and composition.
Latte Macchiato contains less coffee, about 20 ml, as opposed to 25 ml for Caffe Latte, and prefers a very frothy hot milk. This milk cream is poured into a tall, narrow glass and topped up with the freshly extracted espresso coffee, which falls into the frothed milk instead of mixing with the whole drink, floating on the surface and forming layers of varying density: from the darkest to the lightest.
Finally, the drink can be garnished with cream, additional milk foam on the surface, or cocoa sprinkles for those with a sweet tooth. It is a preparation that almost resembles a dessert but is especially appreciated in the morning.
Latte Macchiato can be drunk either hot or cold, but must always be prepared hot so that the "magical" mixing of its ingredients takes place. The difference between Latte Macchiato and Caffe Latte. The perfect latte macchiato glass
The latte macchiato is easy to prepare and gives great satisfaction. With its delicate colour and inviting appearance, it begins to delight from the moment it is prepared.
It is a sweet and delicate drink that is more suited to a cold winter's day or a relaxing morning than a hard day's work. It is particularly suitable for those who do not want the coffee flavour in milk preparations to be too strong.
The glass that serves it best is usually a taller glass, narrower at the bottom and wider at the top, and not necessarily too thick. (called Latte Glass)
Of course, the glass must be strictly transparent to fully enjoy the colours of the drink and the perfect layering. Any logos and decorations in the centre of the glass complete and embellish this work of art.
The glasses can vary considerably in shape, weight, and design. From the oddest glass to the most elegant bar glass, with a practical handle or without, regular and symmetrical, or with a much more pronounced flare at the top. The glass is a character choice that accommodates the preferences of all drinking enthusiasts.
However, the ideal glass must be able to hold the perfect amount of latte macchiato, which is why a glass with a capacity of 250 to 300 ml is usually chosen.
